MELANIE'S FINE FOODS ACQUIRES GREEN BUSINESS AND WBENC CERTIFICATIONS

San Carlos, CA, January, 2008 — Melanie's Fine Foods, maker and distributor of gourmet goodies for the kitchen and grill, was one of the first companies in San Mateo County, California, to become certified as a green business. The Bay Area Green Business Certification brings recognition to the company's green practices in their San Carlos, California office. This certification was awarded by the County of San Mateo - RecycleWorks, a section within the County's Public Works Department. The certification includes reviews of solid waste diversion, energy efficiency, water conservation, and pollution prevention.

The company was also awarded national certification as a Women's Business Enterprise by Astra Women's Business Alliance, a regional certifying partner of the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). WBENC's national certification is a meticulous process including an in-depth review of the business and site inspection. The process is designed to certify that the business is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by a woman or women.
