NASFT Member Melanie's Fine Foods Wins Two Scovie Awards

San Carlos, CA (www.bigacres.com), January, 2007 - Melanie's Fine Foods is proud to announce two Scovie Awards for Big Acres Sauces, bringing the line’s total number of awards to nine. The Scovie Awards are held each year in Albuquerque, New Mexico by the owners of Fiery Foods & and BBQ Magazine. This year’s competition included more than 740 entries from 43 states and 5 countries. Big Acres Mango Peach Chile Sauce won a 1st Place Scovie Award in the Condiment-Unique category, and Big Acres Chipotle Peanut Sauce won a 2nd Place Scovie Award in the Condiment–Salad Dressing category. Both of these unique sauces are Melanie's personal creations.

First place winner Big Acres Mango Peach Chile Sauce combines mango and peach chunks with onions, Serrano chiles, red bell peppers and spices for a sweet, savory and spicy balance that is sure to please any palate. This versatile ready-to-pour sauce enhances the flavor of fish, chicken, shrimp, turkey, duck, salads, rice and veggies.

Second place winner Big Acres Chipotle Peanut Sauce blends Latin and Asian flavors to create a smooth and crunchy sauce that includes roasted peanuts, ginger, lime juice, garlic and maple syrup. Chipotle Peanut Sauce makes any salad, pasta, pork, beef and chicken a fun treat.

Melanie's Fine Foods offers a complete line of gourmet sauces, rubs and grilling and cooking accessories. All their products contain only all-natural ingredients and are free of preservatives, MSG, dairy and other additives. In addition to the winning sauces, the Big Acres Sauces line includes 4 more flavors: Milagro Mole, a ready-to-pour Oaxacan-style red mole; Rich & Mild Barbeque Sauce, a full-bodied sauce that’s rich with molasses, honey and maple syrup; Hot & Spicy Barbeque Sauce, a sweet and spicy sauce filled with chipotle peppers, molasses, honey and maple syrup; and Teriyaki Marinade, an award-winning blend of soy sauce, honey, ginger and red wine.
