Happy Halloween!

Halloween is Melanie's favorite holiday! Ghosts, vampires, costumes, pumpkins, and most importantly, Candy Corn! On Sunday night, Kent and Melanie took the first place prize in a pumpkin carving contest at a friend's annual event! We can't wait until next year to take on the other "Masters"! Here's a picture of Cannibal Pumpkin Eats Mr. Bill. . . Oooh nooo!

Ok, so now that you know how old we are. . . . Enjoy this ghoulish holiday and our October eNewsletter! This month, we've got lots of news for you! A new product, a new size, a recent web-site award, more stores, another holiday event and our October recipe! But first. . .

Southern California Fires -- How You Can Help
The destruction by fires in Southern California is unbelievable. In the Inland Empire alone, Melanie's childhood home, more than 450 homes have now been destroyed. So many families are displaced that the three shelters in that area are almost full to capacity.

You can help by going to www.arcinlandempire.org/donation.htm and make a cash or credit card donation. This page is set up to benefit the fire victims directly.

Also, Melanie is arranging a truckload of goods to be delivered to the shelters later this week. If you're on the San Francisco Bay Peninsula and would like to donate hotel samples and toiletries, clean blankets, pillows, sheets or clean and folded clothing, contact us at info@bigacres.com or call 650-593-9301 and we'll make arrangements to collect your donation!

Do you work for peanuts?
We do! All for our new Chipotle Peanut Sauce! Check it out at www.bigacres.com. This sauce is Melanie's latest recipe -- thick and creamy with chunks of peanuts, garlic, ginger, and lots of lime juice. This sauce works great on salads, pasta, and grilled chicken, beef, or pork. Try the recipe below at your holiday events!

10% off your first order! Download our order form, fill it out, and fax it to us or call us at 650-593-9301. Mention this newsletter on the form and we'll include your discount in your total.

    October Recipe

Get ready for a real tasty foodie experience -- these tostadas rock! Use little tostada chips for appetizers at your next party!

    Spicy Chipotle Peanut Chicken Tostadas
    Serves 6

2 medium tomatoes, seeded and diced
    3/4 cup green onions, sliced
    1/2 cup fresh pineapple, diced
    2 cups Napa cabbage, shredded
    1 cup jicama, shredded
    1/2 cup red peppers, julienned
1.5 lbs grilled chicken, cut into strips
1 cup crumbled queso fresco or mild feta
    1/4 cup chopped roasted peanuts
1 bottle Big Acres Chipotle Peanut Sauce
12 yellow corn tortillas or your favorite store-bought tostada shells
    Peanut oil

Lightly fry tortillas in peanut oil and drain on paper towels. Set aside. (Note: Store-bought tostada shells are already fried.) In small bowl, mix 1/2 tomatoes, 1/2 green onions, pineapple, cabbage and jicama. Toss with 1/2 bottle of peanut sauce and set aside. Place warm chicken in large bowl and toss with remaining peanut sauce. Divide vegetable and fruit mixture evenly and place on tortillas. Place chicken on top of vegetables and fruit. Sprinkle remaining ingredients in the following order: tomatoes, onions, cheese, peanuts and serve immediately.
