Hometown Days is put on by a group of dedicated volunteers to promote a sense of community spirit in San Carlos. The 22nd Hometown Days celebration will be May 18-19, 2002. (This annual event is traditionally held at Burton Park the third weekend in May.) Besides bringing the community together, the event provides an opportunity for local schools, service clubs, and other organizations to do fundraising. A parade through downtown kicks off a festival at Burton Park, where families enjoy games, good food (including a Rotary Club Fun Run and pancake breakfast and a Kiwanis Club evening barbecue), local arts and crafts, entertainment, wine-tasting, and a beer garden. Information booths represent local businesses and non-profit organizations. For more information, call the Hometown Days Hotline at (650) 594-2700.
